The ACU-SELF self-adjusting floating deflector system is designed to prevent floating debris from entering stormwater overflow systems, combined sewer overflow (CSO) systems, sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) systems, holding tank overflows and pond overflows. The ACU-SELF can also be installed in canals or culverts where retention of floating elements is required.

The ACU-SELF self-adjusting floating deflector can vary from model GAS-S-30-* to GAS-S-90-*. The GAS-S-30-* is designed for a flow depth of 12 inches (30 cm) and measures up to a maximum of 13 feet (4 m) in length. The GAS-S-90-* is designed for a flow depth of 36 inches (90 cm) and measures up to a maximum of 13 feet (4 m) in length. ACU-SELF model selection is based solely on flow depth and channel width or weir length. Units are currently marked with an asterisk due to the wide variety of model options.
The ACU-SELF is a pivoting, self-adjusting stainless steel floating deflector mounted above the weir or channel bottom. In its resting position, the ACU-SELF hangs down under its own weight, preventing debris from reaching the overflow. When the deflector is more than half submerged, it pivots upwards and rises with the rising water level. Floating objects move upwards simultaneously with the water level. Due to this unique restraining effect, floating matter cannot reach the area between the deflector and the weir, and is directed to the wastewater treatment plant for CSO and SSO applications. In the case of stormwater applications, debris is retained in the channel for removal after a storm. This unique operation guarantees maximum retention of floating elements. The ACU-SELF's lightweight design makes it highly responsive to minimal changes in water level, while guaranteeing structural stability.
