The TRU-FLO compact regulator system is designed to maintain a constant, accurate flow (+/- 5%) from a minimum of 160 gpm (10 L/s) to a maximum of 7,100 gpm (450 L/s) for upstream flow. water levels ranging from 0 to 26 feet (8 m). The TRU-FLO compact regulator has been used for flow control in combined sewer systems (CSO), sanitary sewer systems (SSO) and batch plant effluents, and is well suited to regulating small to medium discharges. The compact TRU-FLO regulator is installed upstream of the control point in a wet well or directly in the storage area, so there's no need to build a separate structure. The TRU-FLO compact regulator requires no differential head for correct operation.

The TRU-FLO compact regulator system can vary from the GTF-R-15 to the GTF-R-50. The GTF-R-15 has an inlet diameter of 6 inches (15 cm) with a flow range of 160 to 400 gpm (10 to 25 L/s), and the GTF-R-50 has an inlet diameter of 20 inches (50 cm) with a flow range of 3,200 to 7,100 gpm (200 to 450 L/s). TRU-FLO model selection is based entirely on the flow range required.
The TRU-FLO compact regulator maintains a constant flow rate at a set value independent of the upstream water level. The TRU-FLO compact regulator is installed in the structure's wet well and is influenced by the upstream water level. During periods of low flow, the radial swivel valve remains in the fully open position. The compact design consists of an integrated float housed in a watertight enclosure that controls the position of the pivoting radial gate. Thanks to this watertight enclosure, the wide variation in water level upstream is reflected over a much smaller range inside the housing. The position of the float inside this housing determines the position of the radial gate and consequently the size of the regulator opening. This ensures constant flow over the entire range of the upstream water level.
The compact TRU-FLO regulator has an automatic self-flushing effect to prevent blockages. If a blockage occurs, the flow through the regulator decreases and the resulting force of the water on the debris pushes the radial valve. This causes the radial gate to open fully. This removes the blockage under the pressure of the upstream water level, after which the regulating process resumes.
Each TRU-FLO compact regulator is calibrated on a fully functional, large-scale test bench. Each TRU-FLO compact regulator is shipped to site pre-set to the desired design flow. In addition, setpoints are clearly marked for future in-situ flow adjustments (should this prove necessary). The regulator can then be installed and commissioned without the need for time-consuming and costly in situ calibration or flow measurement.
