The Pump Action Screen (PAS) is a simple, robust mechanical CSO screen consisting of a stainless steel half-round steel basket with 6 mm perforations, submersible pump, distribution piping and venturi. It is designed to prevent the discharge of non-biodegradable solid debris larger than 6 mm in two directions.Screening debris is cleaned from the underside of the screen chamber and expelled past the end of the screen, eliminating any potential residues.
-6 mm shielding in two directions
-Robust, proven technology
-Low-maintenance
-No moving parts
-Modular system for levelling through existing manholes
-Scrubbing system improves detection efficiency
-Reducing the number of projections presented
-No hazardous person entry required
-The incorporation of air reduces the oxygen demand of the spill and transmits the flow forward
The PAS is installed on the initial side of the weir. When the water level rises below the screen, an ultrasonic head detects the level and sends a signal via the control panel to start the pump. Once the pump has started, it passes the water through a Venturi which draws air into the flow. Air and water are combined in the mixing section, before entering the strainer basket. The air/water mixture travels along the underside of the screen, removing debris and preventing screen glare. The power of the scouring action carries screen debris beyond the end of the screen, keeping it inside.
Once the flow rate has dropped, a second signal from the ultrasonic unit stops the pump.
Two pump options are available for the pump action screen: low-level pump or in-line pump.
