The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted overflow screen system is designed to remove debris from stormwater overflow systems, combined sewer overflow (CSO) systems and sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) systems. The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen offers an economical and effective solution for protection against floating and suspended matter entering receiving streams. The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen is designed for installation on stormwater weirs, decanter weirs, CSO weirs and flood discharge weirs. The ACU-SCREEN's modular design makes it suitable for any type of overflow system, and is easy to install in existing structures.

-The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted overflow screen system models vary in orientation, drive mechanism, number of modules and overall length. Models are designated GAS-***-***. Units are modular in design, with a single unit measuring up to 30 feet (9 m) in length. Units are currently designated with an asterisk, due to the wide variety of model options.
The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen system is designed around a special stainless steel slotted screen surface. The standard screen opening is 3/16“ x 1” with a total free area of 50%, providing the highest possible degree of solids retention while minimizing pressure drop. Other screen sizes are available.
During overflow, the ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen is continuously cleaned, no more frequently than every 15 seconds, by the back-and-forth movement of the cleaning brush. As a result, there should be no clogging of the screening surface. The cleaning mechanism of ACU-SCREEN fine slot screens is usually driven by a hydraulic motor, which in turn is powered by a hydraulic power unit. A weighted, self-adjusting brush, attached to the guide carriage, is driven back and forth over the screening surface, pushing any retained solids into the storage areas, located at each end of the screening modules. Retained solids are discharged into the wastewater stream at the end of an overflow and transported to the wastewater treatment plant for disposal.
The preferred installation orientation of the ACU-SCREEN is horizontal to minimize pressure drop. The ACU-SCREEN can be installed in a vertical position if required, to reduce space requirements. Diagonal installation is required when the ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen is used in conjunction with the ACU-BEND bending weir to maximize in-situ storage and minimize overflow events.
The ACU-SCREEN fine-slotted screen cleaning mechanism can be driven by an electric geared motor, or without the need for external power when powered by the hydraulic impeller system.
